Nose, Iranian Style (Damagh Be Sabke Irani)

I watched this documentary on the Sundance channel, it's a really intriguing subject. I had no idea that nose jobs were such an epidemic over there. Did you?

"Iran is the world leader in rhinoplasty with an estimated 60,000 to 70,000 operations each year. In a country that discourages personal expression and disdains Western culture, young Iranians eagerly change their noses to model images in European and American fashion magazines."

Director: Mehrdad Oskouei

  1. Interesting indeed. I had no idea!! When one considers just how much influence the west has on global cultures, all one can do is gasp at how unfortunate it is.

  3. The scary part was when one lady said she wanted her nose to be like Michael Jackson's. That's one line you never want to cross.

With all the non-majority white countries out there you'd think another standard of beauty would arise. Especially one that uplifts people of color.
