Spooner

Matthew Lillard usually gets cast as the extremely obnoxious guy. Sometimes it works (She's All That) and sometimes it doesn't. In the this Slamdance film it looks like he's scaled down the obnoxious just enough to produce a likable character.

Facing eviction from his parent's home on his 30th birthday, a socially awkward guy meets the girl of his dreams and creates his own rules for growing up.

The storyline doesn't seem starkly original but it's the kind of timeless boy meets girl story that never gets old.

  1. I first saw Matt Lillard in "Scream". I thought he and Rose McGowan stole the show. I will still rent or watch anything he's in, and while I'm glad to see he was able to get a decent check out of "Scooby-Doo", I'm really, really surprised that he hasn't been considered for a lot more roles. Matt Lillard + Seth Rogen HAS to be comedy gold. I wonder what the deal is.

  2. I forgot that Matthew Lillard was even in Scream. Too many stars in it. And speaking of Scream, whatever happened to Skeet Ulrich? He was a good actor with promise. Last thing I remember him on was that canceled show Jericho. He needs to come back!

  3. Skeet did this really horrible movie with Cuba Gooding Jr. called "Chill Factor". I'm doing a series called "Movies That Made Us -- Mad" and that film is on the list. If ever there was an actor who needed to change agents, it's Skeet Ulrich.
