Reel Artsy Lansing - Juice Nation

This Black-owned juicery located in the heart of Downtown Lansing is one of my favorite spots in the city (and the State). Juice Nation offers an amazing selection of organic raw juices, fresh smoothies, smoothie bowls, and curated detox juice bundles to help get your body and digestive system on track! The owners offer a wealth of health knowledge, the staff is super friendly, and you can confidently go about your day knowing that you are putting quality ingredients in your system. My favorite go-to Juice Nation snacks are the chocolate peanut butter smoothie, and the acai bowl.

Juice Nation is a beacon of Black Wellness in the community. It's the perfect spot to grab a cold-pressed juice for a picnic at the park, or a smoothie after a kayak ride on the Grand River. Or you can cozy up with the Vanilla Bean Mocha for a movie night. Yum!

Juice Nation is has 3 locations in the Lansing, Michigan area. For more info visit their Facebook and Website

Reel Artsy Wellness - Fresh Dill

Fresh Dill is an excellent herb to help instantly jazz up a dish, plus it has the bonus of having positive wellness benefits. According to Healthline, "in addition to culinary uses, dill is rich antioxidants, and has traditionally been used to treat ailments, including digestive issues, colic in infants, assist heart health, lower blood sugar levels" and potentially help with bone health. Dill is also known to help reduce depression, lower cholesterol and ease menstrual cramps in women. Get creative with adding fresh dill to your routine and you'll make your dinners (and body) happy!

Reel Artsy Wellness Spotlight: Oracle's Apothecary

Nestled within Michigan's Capital City is a quaint healing shop bursting with natural light and good vibes called Oracle's Apothecary. The building resides in the Old Town of Lansing, a district that prides itself on being artsy and offbeat. Candice is the owner and curator of this metaphysical store that offers a wide-range of crystals and energy tools to assist customers along their spiritual journey.

On their website, Candice notes that she teaches "classes on Grounding, Shielding, and Cleansing as well as Ancestor Veneration and Safe Spirit Communication." Candice proudly refers to herself as "The Oracle" and offers her store's space as a haven for spiritually minded Black and POCs in the healing community (locals, and those willing to travel from afar for her services).

Oracle's Apothecary offers products like "Cleanse Yo Self Body Butter," smudge sticks, goats milk soaps, "Shields Up" herbal baths, and a wide spectrum of healing crystals, teas, tarot cards and serums. This Black-owned shop is a must-visit for those interested in cultivating holistic wellness.

Reel Artsy Wellness - Green Tea With Ginger And Lemon

Drinking green tea regularly is a great way to help bring balance and calm to your life. When you add in lemon and ginger you create a trifecta of wonderful health benefits. Plus, it's the perfect warm and cozy drink to cozy up with while you watch your favorite TV show or movie, cultivating an evening with delicious vibes for your senses and spirit. We suggest pairing an Ava DuVernay film like I Will Follow with a ginger and lemon green tea for a nourishing night of reflection on self-care when going through a tough time.

Reel Artsy Wellness Spotlight: Shauntelle Says Podcast

Shauntelle Says
is one of the best wellness podcasts!

To kick off Reel Artsy Wellness, I'd like like to spotlight something, and someone, that is near to my heart-- my best friend: Shauntelle Boyer. She is a screenwriter, producer, breathwork and meditation coach; and a wellness advocate for Black, Indigenous and POC mental health. In her podcast, Shauntelle Says, the central theme focuses on the power and beauty of "returning home" to yourself.

Episodes include special guests from the wellness industry, along with a Q&A segment, and an overall wealth of deeply meaningful and encouraging words that explore and help listeners cultivate wellness within through spiritual and emotional practices of well-being.

You can check out Shauntelle Says on Apple, Spotfiy, and Anchor.FM, pretty much anywhere podcasts are available. Enjoy truly divine listening experience crafted as "a space for millennials who are returning home to themselves, through self love, radical healing, and consciousness."
