You probably remember Mowry from the TV show The Smart Guy. He played the adorable young genius T.J. Henderson who got into all sorts of tween trouble. Now, Mowry is 24 year-years-old, he's working on an album and lining up some choice roles in mumblecore films (well, the third part is more of my hope). But seriously, someone should cast him in a quirky indie film because Mowry needs his own version of a Zooey Deschanel manic-pixie-dream-girl to chase after.
Let's call his possible foray into the world of independent cinema the Untitled Tahj Mowry Project. His first movie should include at least one or more of the following:
- A scene where he listens to indie rock on big headphones as he ponders life.
- A scene where he meets his manic-pixie-dream-girl in some clever offbeat setting.
- A scene where he runs around the city (or town) having way too much fun.
Because most beloved indie films have those elements and even though they may sound cliche, if done right it can lead to something special (Before Sunrise, Napoleon Dynamite, Medicine for Melancholy).
So what do you think? Who should play his possible love interests?
And lastly, here's a video from his latest venture a live web series talk show...
